Cardiac Stress Test in New Jersey
Measures how your heart performs under exertion to uncover hidden blockages. Offered by Dr. Sankalp Pathak, MD, FACC, across all six MyCardioVascular Clinic locations.
What Is a Cardiac Stress Test?
A cardiac stress test measures how your heart performs when it works harder than usual — either while you exercise on a treadmill or after medication that mimics exercise. By recording your heart's response, it helps reveal reduced blood flow from narrowed coronary arteries that may not show up at rest.
Why You Might Need a Cardiac Evaluation
Dr. Pathak may recommend this if you have:
- Chest pain or pressure with activity
- Shortness of breath or unusual fatigue
- Evaluating known coronary artery disease
- Setting a safe exercise level after a heart event
- Assessing the heart before certain surgeries
What to Expect
Before
You may be asked to avoid caffeine and certain medications beforehand. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Our team gives you specific instructions when scheduling.
During
You'll walk on a treadmill (or receive medication if you can't exercise) while your heart rhythm, blood pressure, and symptoms are monitored continuously.
After
Most people resume normal activity the same day. Dr. Pathak interprets the results and reviews next steps with you.
